I spent my early post-college years as a reporter, photographer and web guru at The Union-Recorder, a small community newspaper in central Georgia. There, I learned the power of journalism as a force for good. After my years there, I went on to get my master’s in journalism at UGA through Grady College’s Health and Medical Journalism program and upon graduation I decided to continue my education and learn more about various research areas by staying in higher ed as a writer, multimedia producer and social media manager for Franklin College at UGA.
Inspired by my experience as a PR writer at UGA for the last five years, and thus my intrigue of various research areas, I recently returned to my journalism roots and I am pursuing a career as an independent journalist. I am intrigued by all things concerning the human brain, technology, advances in modern medicine and other research that challenges or adds to our current knowledge of human health; how media and technology impact culture, psychology and behavior; climate change; and, generally, how we can improve human wellbeing, our planet and the future.
