I qualified from coventry university in 2010. I was fortunate to find work straight away at the Luton and Dunstable hospital as a rotational band 5 OT. During this time i completed rotations in ortho, surgery, bariatric surgery, acute medicine, A&E. elderly care, cardiac rehab, acute respiratory and acute stroke with a HASU unit. I have always had a strong love and passion for stroke rehab and other neurological conditions.
In 2014 I spent a year working at chase farm hospital as a senior neuro OT on the neuro rehab ward. During my time at chase farm I was responsible for multiple service improvements including the implementation of groups. The use of groups is something I feel passionate and motivated about. As a result I have had articles published in multiple OT magazines promoting my work on group work.
March 2015 I returned to the Luton and dunstable hospital to work as a senior neuro OT on the hyper acute stroke unit. I was responsible for managing caseloads, overseeing junior and assistant members of staff aswell as making sure we are meeting national standards.
I also treated neurological outlier patients within the hospital, these often include traumatic brain injuries and progressive conditions.
In February 2018 I was successful at securing my band 7 post within the team (specialist neuro and rehab OT, team lead). In this team lead position I am responsible for the daily running and delegation of tasks within the team as well as offering specialist advice and support on caseloads. I provide support and supervision to members of the team and regular teaching opportunities.
I have been fortunate to have had articles published in leading OT magazines and presented a poster presentation at UKSF (regarding the work I completed utilising animal assisted therapy with patients presenting in a disorder of consciousness).
In September 2020 I was successful in becoming a visiting lecturer for the university of Bedfordshire.
